The interview was recorded using Google Meet, LIV virtual reality cameras, and Ready Player Me avatars. Timmu Tõke (Wolf3D's CEO) and AJ 'Dr Doom' Shewki (LIV's CEO) had a quick chat about LIV, the current state of VR content creation and the role that avatars play in it. Our avatar creator allows anyone to create a 3D model of themselves with nothing more than a selfie and then use the avatar to capture virtual reality gameplay. This year, we partnered with LIV to offer Ready Player Me avatars to their community of VR content creators. They can share a third-person view of them playing games like Beat Saber, create a 3D painting using tools like Tilt Brush, and more. Our official guide is here, and you can always find the team on Discord and ask questions there.LIV allows content creators on platforms like Twitch and YouTube to share their virtual reality experiences. Stay tuned.Īs always, you can find LIV on Steam. One of our areas of focus for 2020 is rethinking the App setup process (and design) to make it easier to get started, and finding the right information. Quest support is in beta, so expect some bugs as we iron out the kinks! Early on, our issues were largely on the bugs/performance side, but since spending the better half of 2019 working on that, we are now turning the corner. We are aware that setup isn't as simple as we want it to be. I tried to use LIV and it was SO complicated that I gave up! Advanced features such as LUT's, Static Masks - LIV specific features like FOV Override (making your MR camera wider-angle than your physical one) and our calibration. Green-screen less background removal using a Kinect or an iOS device (A12 processor or better pre-req) Avatar capture for any SteamVR headset, and Oculus headsets through SteamVR. Mixed reality capture for any SteamVR headset, and any Oculus headset. That means that you can still use LIV with any game supported by Oculus’s MRC Tools, even if that game doesn't have the LIV SDK per se. LIV now officially supports the Oculus MRC plugin *beta*.

This inherently means solving for creators, which means being as cross-platform and open as we can be for any providers, from runtime to avatars. To take a step back, our mission at LIV has always been to enable more people to create compelling content in VR. There is some confusion around how this all works. (You can of course still use LIV + Quest with a regular camera and a green screen!)īut LIV, what about Oculus MRC? What does this mean for LIV and the MRC ecosystem?!? no Splitverse this time!) in a typical home environment, inside the Hero Hangout’s game room, so that you can see what it might look like in yours Our iOS app is in beta right now, and you can get access by hopping into our Discord and asking for access. using LIV without a green screen by using a Kinect (Xbox One or Azure), and as of late an iPhone XR or newer (as seen in our teaser video!).
#LIV VR SUPPORTED GAMES FULL#
Our long term goal is to allow full MRC capabilities to phones without needing a PC, which brings us to.

This should bring LIVs toolset to all Oculus Quest users. We've teased Oculus Quest support in LIV for a while, and we're happy to share that you can now try it out in beta!
